Can I get gastrointestinal parasites from my animal?

It is possible to acquire worms from dogs and cats and some of these may cause serious problems in children, the elderly, or in the immunocompromised. For these reasons it is important to maintain regular parasite control. Regularly clean up poo and washing your hands especially before eating can also greatly help to reduce infections.
